SPC SUPPORTS LOCAL MOTORCYLE RACING STARS

29/5/2012

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is continuing its commitment to support local motorcycle racing talent by sponsoring Dan Kneen and Conor Cummins for the season ahead.

Both Dan and Conor have been competing at the top level of motorcycle racing around the Mountain Circuit and at race tracks around the British Isles for a number of years.

To help with the cost of his racing efforts, the Steam Packet Company is renewing its support for Dan by once again providing him with free travel to events. Indeed, this will be the third year of continued support which has helped him to compete in classes in the British Superbike Championships, the Northwest 200 and Ulster Grand Prix, plus the Isle of Man TT, on Marks Bloom-sponsored machinery.

Meanwhile, the Company will provide Conor with free travel to some of the events that he has lined up with the Tyco Suzuki Racing Team during 2012.

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘Both Dan and Conor are well-known and liked in the racing paddocks and we are aware that they act as great ambassadors, not only for bike racing here in the Island, but also for the Island in general as a holiday destination.

‘The Steam Packet Company has an important role in transporting competitors and spectators to the Island for many of the motorsport activities that take place throughout the year. Those attending provide much-needed income for the Island’s economy by spending in the hotels, cafes, bars and restaurants – this sponsorship is just one of the ways in which we are able to put something back into the sport.’
