STEAM PACKET COMPANY TEAMS UP WITH PDMS TO DELIVER AN IMPROVED ONLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM

4/11/2013

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s online booking system will be offline for a few days next week as the Company takes the first step in future-proofing its website and reservations system and improving the customer experience.

The changes begin with the website being transferred to Isle of Man-based PDMS, having previously been operated by a UK firm.

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward explained: ‘This will be the first step in what will be a series of improvements to our website and booking system. We are delighted to be working with PDMS, a highly respected Isle of Man business with a strong reputation.

‘Our website www.steam-packet.com will remain available throughout next week. However, to allow the changes to take place, it is necessary for the online booking facility to be taken offline, starting on Monday 11th November until Thursday 14th November. Access to the “My Account” area will also not be available during this time.

‘We will have an even more stringent security system in place to protect payments made online. This is the first of many planned developments which will improve the speed and reliability of our reservations system.’

Mr Woodward said: ‘We apologise for any inconvenience that this might cause next week. While this facility  is down, we will be extending the telephone opening hours and our reservations team will be available to accept bookings between 07:00hrs and 22:00hrs during this period. Our Ferry Travel Shop in the Sea Terminal at Douglas will remain open from 07:00hrs to 19:30hrs. We will also be honouring the lower web fares to customers booking via the phone or in person during this period.’

The reservations team can be contacted on 661661 (IOM), 08722 992 992* (UK) or 0044 8722 992 992* (ROI & outside UK).
