The Gaiety Theatre will be transformed into Neverland for a forthcoming production of Peter Pan, thanks to generous support from the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.
The Parker & Snell production based on JM Barrie’s much-loved children’s book will have a three-day run at the Gaiety from Thursday, 7th April until Saturday, 9th April, with two performances (matinee and evening) each day.
The producers want to bring a full theatrical set from the UK and the Steam Packet Company is pleased to assist as part of an overall sponsorship package.
Producer Carl Parker, who will also play the famous dual role of Captain Hook and George Darling, said: ‘We would like to thank the Steam Packet Company for its continued support in transporting the Peter Pan set to the Island, which includes a nursery, the mermaids’ lagoon, Neverland – and not forgetting Captain Hook’s ship!
‘Our production will feature flying, as provided by Flying by Foy, which will see Peter, Wendy, John and Michael transported to Neverland. The play is based on the original story of Peter Pan by JM Barrie and anyone who is familiar with the book won't be disappointed.’
Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘Our support for local theatre is just one of the many ways in which the Steam Packet Company is committed to supporting the Manx community each year. Peter Pan is one of the most famous stories of all time and having supported Parker & Snell with previous productions, we’re sure this trip to Neverland will be a magical experience for all the family.’
