ABBA fans will be singing ‘thank you for the music’ when the UK’s best tribute act arrives in the Isle of Man to perform next month (October).
Revival: Abba Tribute Band will take to the stage at Manx Breast Cancer Support Group’s (MBCSG) sold-out ‘FABBAlous’ 6th Anniversary Black Tie Ball, being held at the Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino in Douglas on Saturday 12th October.
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has assisted with the cost of travel for the performers and their equipment, to and from the island.
MBCSG widened its remit last year through the formation of a new charity - Mannin Cancers – which focuses on men that have been diagnosed with cancer or are recovering from the disease. Together they aim to raise money for the breast unit and the Nobles Hospital CT Scanner Appeal, which has a fundraising target of £1.5 million, to replace two current scanners and create a CT suite to rival any facility available in UK hospitals.
Julie Stokes from MBCSG and Mannin Cancers said: ‘We are absolutely delighted that this fundraising event has continued to be a sell-out for many years and want to say a huge thank you to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for its help in bringing the entertainment over.
‘It’ll be a great night and we hope to raise funds for this vital appeal which will help reduce, and more successfully help with diagnoses, meaning treatment can be sought earlier.’
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward added: ‘We’re pleased to be able to support this event and the charities involved. Sadly, cancer affects so many within our community, but their lives and treatment outcomes can be greatly improved by equipment provided through fundraising.’
